Barangay officials in Upper Tominobo, a barangay located in Iligan City, Northern Mindanao is now in hot waters caused by their utter disrespect for the dead, as well as their failure to provide the necessary services to their constituents.
A tragedy
A Facebook post by Ambot Nimo has gone viral in social media owing to the fact that it shows the harsh reality of the incompetence and indifference of some local officials in the country.
A boy residing in the barangay passed away, so his grieving parents, who may have used all their finances for their child’s funeral, asked the local barangay officials if they can use the official barangay vehicle to assist in the burial of their dearly departed.
To everyone’s surprise, the barangay officials refused to assist the grieving family, saying that it may ruin the vehicle, so the family just decided to transport their dead using a motorcycle. They later found out that the said vehicle has been used for the same purpose before.
Outburst of emotions
Netizens who have read the post wasted no time in expressing their disgust and disappointment towards the barangay officialswereo was supposed to serve the people, especially during those tragic times.
Truth of alibi?
The barangay officials themselves answered and defended their actions, arguing that the vehicle is indeed inoperable and needs repair, which is the reason why they refused to assist the family.
You be the judge.
