An old woman who does laundry for a living went to Raffy Tulfo to ask for help. The old frail woman named Aling Alicia and 5 children, 2 of which are PWDs are all living in a small quarters.

Bigasan

When Tulfo asked what she wanted as help, she asked if she could maybe start a bigasan so she can have money for their everyday needs.

Tulfo, without second thoughts, said that he will buy 20 sacks of rice so she can start.

Aside from that, when Tulfo asked if they have money so they can go home, the old woman said that they only borrowed money from the old woman’s laundry customer.

They borrowed P300, so Tulfo gave her P5000 from his wallet for their needs, and another P300 so they can go home.

They get by

During the interview, it was found out by Tulfo that the old woman only does “extra” laundry so she can have little money for their every day needs.

The eldest among the children has a disability, so even if he wants to help by applying to jobs, he is not being accepted by employers.

A new start

The old woman said that she was awarded a lot on a relocation site. After confirming that the lot was indeed hers, Raffy Tulfo’s staff went ahead and bought materials for construction.

They constructed their house, with a small bigasan and sari-sari store so they can start anew.
Even all the things and furniture for their house were provided by the staff.

Volunteers

Aside from Raffy Tulfo and his staff, volunteers donated time and money to finish the construction of Aling Alicia’s house.

Utmost joy and gratitude can be seen from Aling Alicia after the house and the store was done.
